Cloudera is seeking a skilled attorney to join our legal team in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. As a key member of our growing team, the Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role as both a trusted business partner and a strategic problem solver. This position offers the opportunity to provide legal guidance, expertise, and support across all areas of law impacting our APAC operations, with a primary focus on supporting sales. The role will report to the Senior Legal Director – APAC, based in Singapore.
As a Legal Counsel, you will:
Work closely with internal staff on cross-functional teams.
Work with customers and channel partners to negotiate business agreements for new and follow-on business.
Ensure agreements comply within company policies and guidelines.
Prepare contract paperwork; advising management of contractual rights and obligations; mitigating contractual and channel partner program risks; compiling and analyzing data; maintaining historical information.
Balance competing priorities of constituencies as compared to business needs and using astute judgment as to when to seek executive level direction.
Liaise with law firms to handle any potential litigation.
We’re excited about you if you have:
Law degree required with 7+ years of post qualification experience either working with a law firm or as an in-house counsel with a special focus on the IT industry.
Good experience working in the APAC region with a strong understanding of the local work customs and cultures.
Knowledge of legal issues affecting software companies operating in the APAC region, such as data privacy, open source software and SaaS, IP protection, employment, and general corporate issues.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills and requisite personal computer skills.
Strong internal/external customer service skills.
Superior communication skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
