The opportunity:
An exciting opportunity now exists to join the Legal team at AIA as a Legal Counsel & Assistant Company Secretary. In this role, you will support the Company Secretary in the administration of all AIA Australia companies, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will have primary responsibility for the AIA Financial Services Board and support the Company Secretary in managing the AIA Australia and AIA Health Insurance Boards and Committees.  

The role also requires you to be the key contact between AIA and its regulators and liaising with the business to ensure all regulator requests are met.

This is a 12-month max-term opportunity based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

To do this successfully you will:

Drafting Board and Committee Agendas, Minutes and Board Papers

Maintaining the Annual Board and Committee Workplans, the Company Secretariat Workplan and the Regulatory Workplan

Maintaining all company secretarial books and regulatory filings, including minute books, share register, register of directors and officers and register of responsible persons

Preparation, coordination and submission of regular reports to APRA, ASIC and AIA Group on regulatory and governance matters and litigation

Work proactively with business stakeholders to prepare written communications to APRA, ASIC and other regulators

Provide legal advice in respect of regulatory and governance matters, and other legal matters

Successful applications will demonstrate:

Company secretarial experience in an APRA regulated environment (insurance, superannuation or banking)

A confident communicator with the ability to partner with a variety of senior stakeholders

Broad and practical understanding of the regulatory environment and key legislation relating to Company Secretarial duties and corporate governance

An analytical thinker with a high attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills
