POSITION OVERVIEW As Legal Counsel – Employment, HR, and Contracts, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring ABCO operates within applicable legal frameworks while maintaining ethical and regulatory standards. This role involves creating, implementing, and monitoring policies, managing contracts, and guiding the company in regulatory and compliance matters. High Level Key Responsibilities include: Handling contracts with customers and vendors Setting/creating HR policy Staying on top of current laws – multi-state experience Assisting with company certifications Working on Employment Law with HR department Further detail on these responsibilities include: Policy Development and Compliance · Develop, implement, and monitor HR policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and industry standards. · Stay current on federal, multi-state, and local laws to ensure compliance with employment and business regulations. · Provide legal guidance to employees and management on policies and practices. Contract Management · Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers and vendors to protect company interests and maintain regulatory compliance. · Collaborate with key accounts to finalize contract terms and resolve disputes. Company Certifications · Ensure ABCO obtains and maintains all necessary industry certifications, meeting all applicable legal and regulatory standards. Training and Communication · Conduct compliance training for employees to educate them on relevant laws and policies. · Develop and distribute legal and compliance communication materials across the organization. Risk Assessment and Mitigation · Identify potential compliance risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. · Conduct regular internal audits and reviews to ensure adherence to policies and regulations. Required Experience and Education 5+ years of experience in employment law, HR policy, and contract negotiation (experience in the maintenance or construction industry is preferred but not required). Law and/or Juris Doctor (JD) degree with specialization or experience in Employment, HR, or Contract Law.
