Legal Entity Controller
Introduction to the job

The Legal Entity Controller will be part of ABS Financial Operation. The primary goal is to effectively and efficiently execute the external and internal reporting (US GAAP / Local GAAP) related processes for the ASML group entities in China. You will bring hands-on and pragmatic expertise and know how to ensure the right accounting and reporting, coach junior team members, actively engage in stakeholder management and drive continuous process improvements as well support the transition to our future ERP system.

Role and responsibilities

Overall responsibilities:

Manages the development and implementation of processes, systems, and infrastructure to ensure a high world-class transactional & operational support services in areas around E2E processes, mainly around Finance domain

Manages timely, correctness and completeness of the External and Internal reporting of the company's financials in compliance with applicable laws and regulations for a broader responsibility area

Provides guidance to Service Delivery Teams for continuous improvement by embedding new capabilities, ways of working & governance, automation and digitization

Financial Reporting

Drive and coordinate the period-end closing activities. Ensure the accounts are recorded and reported on-time, with quality and in full compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP

Coordinate statutory financial reporting process for legal entities in responsible territory, including alignment with Shared Service Center in Korea and Netherland, collaborate with accounting expert to provide the proposal of adjustment when it is necessary

Ensure timely, correctness and completeness of external reporting (e.g. statistical reports, annual inspection, etc.)

Act as overall audit engagement coordinator to external auditor for legal entities in responsible territory; Ensure annual statutory reports are fairly stated and can be signed by external auditor timely

Closely working with related departments on the resolution of complex, material accounting issues, new accounting policies in US GAAP and Local GAAP

Make calculation for Transfer Pricing purposes for both US GAAP and Local GAAP

 Tax compliance

Monitor and ensure local tax filing/reporting are completed in compliance with all tax regulations and laws

Work with Tax department in all local tax authority examination and providing information as required in a timely manner. Ensure all critical tax matters are escalated timely to Tax department for awareness and resolution

Timely updated with new tax regulations, evaluate the impact to the company business and operational processes, ensure compliance in all tax aspects

Continuous improvement and risk controls

Ensure up to date work instructions and valid back-up plan in place

Drive standardization, simplification and automation of the relevant processes, initiate change projects where needed and set appropriate policies & procedures (Define and prioritize improvement agenda)

Ensure strong internal controls and oversee improvements in the control framework. Execute key controls including reviewing high-risk Account Reconciliation and perform material Balance Sheet Review, and ensure timely remediation of control risks

Ensure staffing of people at the right competencies and ensure training and development plans in place

Education and experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance or a related field

15 or more years of work experience in an accounting or finance role in Big 4 or equivalent accounting experience in an international business environment

Team management experience (at least 5 years’ team leader role)

CPA license is preferred

Skills

Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local GAAP

Strong understanding and experience of financial accounting systems (SAP, Oracle) and processes

Ability to build relationships with colleagues in other regions (Asia / Europe / US) and non-financial departments

Strong time management and organizational skills

Has extensive insight into the related stakeholders

Great interpersonal and communication skills

Fluent in written & spoken English and Chinese
