Legal Intern

The Legal Intern will be responsible for supporting projects as directed by the Corporate Counsel and other members of the Legal Department.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

Assist with general liability claim processing, investigations, documentation, and analysis; forward follow-up information and documentation to the third-party administrator; document and update claim files and spreadsheets; and assist with litigation holds.  *

Assist with general liability litigation management, which may include assisting with reviewing legal filings; answering discovery requests; and attending depositions, mediations, arbitrations and trials.*

Perform legal research and draft memos on a variety of topics impacting the day-to-day operations of a large private entertainment and hospitality company*

Assist in the contracting process including reviewing, redlining, and drafting agreements.   

Compile and analyze data, including claims and litigation trends analysis.*

Assist with various projects (both legal and non-legal) as directed by members of the Legal Department.*

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Must be a law student at an accredited law school who has successfully completed at least the first year of classes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with Westlaw or Lexis Nexis online legal research database preferred.

Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with PA Rules of Professional Conduct governing lawyers and Company policies.

Ability to give careful attention to detail, including accurate data entry skills.

Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-oriented environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software applications and Google Workspace (Google Drive - Docs, Sheets, and Slides).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and be flexible.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to concisely and effectively communicate with all levels of management, co-workers, and external parties.

Job Demands:

Summer 2024 (12 weeks); exact start and end dates are flexible.

30 hours per week.

 Physical requirements include the ability to communicate, finger dexterity, visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances, hearing, speaking and mobility.
