Legal Intern
Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for up to 8 highly professional Legal Interns to join us in our Lansdowne, VA office. As a Legal Intern, you are a vital part of a Legal Advocacy Team shaping the law to protect religious liberty. In this 8-10 week program, interns will provide direct assistance to ADF attorneys defending clients at all stages of litigation. Interns will gain experience researching and preparing legal memoranda, attending legal meetings, and observing moot court and legal hearings under the close supervision of senior counsel. Interns will be assigned to a legal team with subject matter expertise and will assist in furthering the goals of that team.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
+ Perform legal research regarding various legal topics. This includes computer-based research of cases, codes, regulations, and other related materials. Some research may require visiting various law libraries to research specialized materials.
+ Draft memorandums of law and other legal briefs. This will require the capacity to analyze the law, apply the law to specific factual situations and independently write legal arguments applying the law and analysis.
+ Perform his or her work under the supervision of a licensed attorney but must be able to perform his or her research in an investigative manner that does not require step-by-step instruction.

Education and/or experience:
+ Successful completion of at least one year of law school.
+ Interns will be permitted to apply for the Blackstone Legal Fellowship, and if selected their schedule will be adjusted accordingly and the phase II legal internship will be at an ADF office.
