The **Legal Operations Intern** will serve in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) working closely with the Legal Counsel’s Office – Legal Operations Team to support efforts in creating a comprehensive, consistent, and equitable onboarding and training experience for legal team members. This position is ideal for someone passionate about organizational development, equity, and accessibility, with a strong interest in designing innovative training solutions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and committed to advancing equity and accessibility in workplace practices. They should have strong communication and organizational skills and a passion for improving employee experiences. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in training development, process improvement, and organizational equity while contributing to impactful initiatives within DHS's OIG Legal Operations Team.
**Some responsibilities include but not limited to:**
+ Lead efforts to design tools, checklists, and training materials that enhance onboarding and training processes with a focus on equity and accessibility.
+ Develop a centralized "training hub" to house legal-wide onboarding and training resources
+ Establish standards for training design, development, and delivery, ensuring they are inclusive for diverse learning styles
+ Assess onboarding and training effectiveness through quantitative and qualitative metrics, focusing on time-to-value, job satisfaction, and sentiments within minority groups
+ Review and enhance existing process documents to improve accessibility and usability, including creating supplemental materials (e.g., videos, guides, FAQs)
+ Explore the use of AI tools (e.g., GPT-4) to develop an internal "Help Desk" for simplified access to standard work processes.
**Minimum Qualifications**
To be eligible for an internship, you must meet the following requirements:
You must be a student at an accredited educational institution; **or** recently graduated December 2024 or May 2025
**AND**
+ Excellent human relation and communication skills sufficient to represent the position and Division in a professional, efficient, and clear manner
+ Ability to work independently and in a team setting
+ Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a culture of inclusion
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Preferred majors include: **Organizational Development, Business Administration/Management, Program/Project Management, Data Science, Sociology, Legal Studies/Paralegal Studies, Political Science, Public/Nonprofit Management, Human Services**
+ Experience developing educational and training materials for adult learners
+ Knowledge of equity and accessibility concepts
+ Experience with AI applications and utilizing AI for training purposes
+ Experience with process improvement
+ Knowledge of or experience with SharePoint
+ Comprehensive familiarity with human services
**Additional Requirements**
+ Must be in academic years of sophomore, junior, or senior (Graduate students allowed)
+ Must provide unofficial transcript to show proof of school enrollment
+ Must be willing to reside in Minnesota for the duration of internship
+ Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
