Primary Function

A. O. Smith is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated corporate and compliance legal assistant to join its corporate legal department.   This role supports the corporate secretary and compliance function of the Company as well as attorneys within the legal department.

Responsibilities Assisting attorneys in the administration of the Company’s Ethics and Compliance (“E&C”) Program Coordinating the intake and investigation process for the Company’s Integrity Help Line; track outstanding matters and reporting Assisting attorneys in the administration of the company’s corporate secretarial, trademark, employment, environmental, real estate, and contract matters Tracking and filing all E&C training records within the Company’s SAP system and ensuring on-time completion of training globally Coordinating the Company’s policy administration, including revising and updating the Company’s policies Assisting attorneys with tracking and filing the lobbying reports Typing, filing, mail sorting and answering phones Interfacing with business unit employees and others regarding the tracking and recording of compliance related activities Qualifications A strong sense of personal initiative and a commitment to teamwork A minimum of five (5) years of legal administration and/or compliance-related experience Microsoft Office proficiency – advanced skills in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Ability to quickly learn new technologies is also required Working knowledge of corporate ERM, SAP and matter management systems, such as eCounsel or SuccessFactors, is preferred Must be detailed-oriented, highly organized, with the ability to multitask, prioritize and follow through on projects Must be comfortable working with a group with high demands and tight time deadlines Must have strong communication and customer service skills with ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals both inside and outside the company at all levels Willingness to take and follow directions and to ask questions when uncertain of task Dependability and flexibility and collegiality Diplomatic individual able to handle confidential information
