The Legal Service Lead is responsible for ongoing leadership, direction, effective operation and performance of the Legal Service team. The Lead acts as a business partner to the Legal group and oversees/ contributes to activity across:
Legal Matter Intake and Company Secretarial
Contract Management
Intellectual Property
Key Responsibilities
Drafts, redlines, reviews and negotiates Commercial, IP and Procurement Contracts in accordance with relevant playbooks and templates. Works with the business to keep templates up to date. Oversees Legal Matter Intake and Company Secretarial processes globally including review, triage, prioritization and allocation of queries and regulatory compliance and new officer / director updates Provide leadership, support, and training to the Legal Service Team to ensure high-level customer service, while also supervising and overseeing the end-to-end delivery of all activities within the scope of processes. This includes leading performance reviews, setting goals, conducting development discussions, and being accountable for coaching, developing, and appraising direct reports. Drives centralization and standardization of the Legal Service Team activity and is accountable for building the team’s capabilities. Liaises with Legal and functional leadership to ensure expectations, service standards and SLAs are met Establishes adequate reporting processes to monitor performance of the Legal Service Team to understand where improvements can be made
Qualifications & Experience
Law degree required with an expereince of 6+ years.
Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and external parties. Must display excellent communication, interpersonal / influence skills along with the ability to gain credibility in area of expertise; Strong understanding of legal concepts and terminology, including knowledge of procurement contracts, IP law, relevant regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply legal language in contracts; Strong team management skills; Has experience with global contract management; Familiar with legal technology including legal matter intake, CLM, IP docketing, etc.
