Legal Support Senior Lead Officer

The Legal Support Sr. Lead Officer is a senior level, non-attorney role, responsible for providing legal support to the Citi Legal team. This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with thorough understanding of the Citi Legal Team. The overall objective of this role is to provide support to the Legal Team.The Legal Support Senior Lead Official will provide key support in the execution of strategic priorities and product ownership for the GLS (Global Legal Services) Regulations Management team and contribute to objectives by providing thought leadership. The Legal Support Senior Lead Official will oversee routine internal and external communications for the GLS Regulations Management team and across Citi. The Legal Support Senior Lead Official will monitor the execution of Regulations Management team’s strategic priorities and objectives, escalating issues when necessary and appropriate.

Responsibilities:Collaborate across Legal and Citi to provide subject matter expert demonstrations, support, and guidance on applications/use of vendor platforms and information deriving opportunities for innovation to leverage capability of external providers more fully.Preparing presentations and materials for executive level engagements, including talking points and keynotes, on emerging issues and on key GLS initiatives, strategy, and execution.Representing the interests of Legal in internal forums as needed.Leading initiatives and managing high-impact special project work streams with a results-driven focus to deliver solutions, including coordinating the implementation of new product requirements and changes to Citi policies.Provide strategic support for vendor(s) and assume the role as Business Activity Owner Support in adherence with Citi’s Third-Party Management Policy and Standard.Collaborates across control/support functions, lines of business and the legal team on programs, projects and matters of common interest to achieve coordinated and efficient process improvements and legal support solutionsParticipates in planning and development initiatives; contributes to business objectives by providing thought leadership using institutional knowledge and knowledge of industry, laws, and regulationsServes as subject matter expert to global partners, key stakeholders and senior legal managers, by managing day-to-day legal support activities, providing advisory services and thought leadership, escalating as appropriateApplies comprehensive understanding of concepts and procedures within Legal and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve complex legal issues and transactions, ensuring quality, efficiency and consistency, escalating where appropriateRepresents the supported area or function in meetings and committees, globally and/or regionally with visibility to senior leadershipManages team templates/procedure memos/policies and functions as the first line of inquiry for questions regarding contentMay be responsible for mentoring and training junior members of the teamAppropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:10+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial servicesProven ability to manage complex documentation with organization and detailMust possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior managementKnowledge of legal customs and practicesKnowledge and understanding of the financial services industryEducation:Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$144,480.00 - $216,720.00
