Job Description

 

The Legislative Affairs Manager coordinates and executes strategies to build and maintain Federal Government support for AV customers’ programs. This key role within the Washington Operations team is responsible for analyzing legislation and regulations, coordinating advocacy and lobbying actions, engaging with legislators and staff on defense authorization and appropriations, and assisting with the management of the company’s political action committee. The Legislative Affair Manager is a lead information source for congressional activities and coordinator of lobbying efforts, enabling AV to educate and advocate effectively within the federal resource allocation process. 

Duties

Coordinate and support AV’s legislative affairs strategy to facilitate strategic business growth initiatives, including engagement strategy with Members of Congress, Committees, and other stakeholders to increase support for AV customer programs.Manage and grow the AV Political Action Committee. Coordinate and partner with AV consultant lobbyists, manage compliance requirements and federal filings.Coordinate and support AV executive engagements in the Washington, DC area. Coordinate and oversee visits by Members of Congress and staff to AV facilities. Develop trusted relationships across AV’s businesses and functions to maximize the impact of the Washington Operations team on company growth initiatives and strategic captures.  Build and maintain trusted relationships with congressional and federal agency staff, coalition and association partners, and industry teammates. Manage AV’s congressional engagement process including content creation, knowledge management, briefing materials, and engagement tracking. Other duties as assigned

Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and at least 8 years of progressively complex experience in government relations, business development, or within government.Experience interacting with senior business leaders and government customers.Knowledge of federal appropriations and policy processes and how these impact AV’s growth objectives.

Additional Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.This is a registered lobbyist position.Position is full-time on-site in Arlington, VA. Travel may be required.Strong verbal and written communications and customer service skills. High level of organizational skill and attention to detail; strong proficiency in business software and tools. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties.A desire to take on new responsibilities and challenges, collaborate with and learn from colleagues, and become an integral part of the best Washington Office in the aerospace and defense industry.   And critically, a recognition that the quality of our collective work directly impacts the capabilities available to American servicemembers.

The salary range for this role is:

$118,107 - $167,475

ITAR Requirement:

This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
