INTRODUCTION TO A PROSIDIAN LEGISLATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY INTERNSHIP

We offer a variety of opportunities for interns at ProSidian Consulting.  Internships are a great way for you to evaluate us and the Management And Operations Consulting industry - and vice versa- to see if there is a potential match for a long-term employment with The Firm.  Because ProSidian Consulting is a Management and Operations Consulting Firm, our internships are nearly all focused on research and writing, assistance on administrative management issues, strategic and organizational planning, and business process improvement.  

Legislative And Public Policy & Volunteer Interns will perform a variety of duties, including conducting research for the Engagement Team staff, communicating with internal teams, and assisting in the administrative operations of our office.  As a ProSidian Consulting intern, you own a project or participate in an Engagement Support Capacity that will call on your technical and qualitative skills that can be wrapped up before you leave the internship period.  You will be encouraged to network and build relationships across functions as well as with other interns.  

In addition, we will provide you with some organized social and networking opportunities to help you get connected to other interns and ProSidian Engagement Team Members.  Lastly, we will document and provide you with an appropriate reference and/or letter of recommendation as appropriate to support the pursuit of your future endeavors.

PROSIDIAN LEGISLATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

ProSidian is looking for “Great People Who Lead” to serve as Legislative and Public Policy Volunteer Interns at a planning summit for a federal agency.  Interested students should share our commitment to integrity, quality, and value.  The purpose of our engagement is to convene and collect data from stakeholders, private sector leaders, scholars and public policy makers for a conversation focused on “The State Of Minority Business Development” and the political and economic realities of the U.S.  Minority population.  

This is intended to generate solutions for how minority business growth will create more jobs, shrink the wealth gap and contribute to the revitalization of the U.S.  Economy.  The dialogue may result in a series of resolutions/assertions/vision statements to guide future business development programs and to educate federal, state, and local elected officials.

The event shall take place during a One (1) Day Legislative Policy Stakeholder Summit Conference on February 25, 2015, from 8:30 a.m.  – 5:00p.m., at a Pre - Determined Conference Center Location in Washington, DC.  The Stakeholder Summit Title is “Elevate The Narrative And Direction Of Minority Businesses As A National Economic Priority” and the objective is to raise the level of awareness and discussion on issues related to parity for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE).

PROSIDIAN LEGISLATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

ProSidian Consulting seeks Legislative and Public Policy Volunteer Interns who will be responsible for supporting Senior Facilitators in generating and collecting data for use in a strategic planning initiative for the federal agency client.  

This role is key to support the timely execution of our engagement with the federal client and interns will have a direct and tangible impact on the final strategic analysis that ProSidian has been tasked with generating.

Interns will be expected to learn and comprehend ProSidian’s data collection and facilitation strategy and respond quickly and flexibly to shifts in client needs once the engagement begins.  

Interns will work as members of the ProSidian Consulting Project Engagement Team to execute the firm’s strategic plan for summit facilitation and data collection and will work face to face with government officials, private executives, and federal management consultants.  This opportunity best fits those looking for experience in government, politics, economic development for disadvantage demographics and communities, and social science research.  

In this visible position you will use your skills to participate in all phases of the facilitation, data collection, and client management processes.  Reporting directly to the Project Coordinator, you will be integral to the success completion of this contract.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS OF PROSIDIAN LEGISLATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY INTERNS

We are seeking an intern that has a passion for public policy and the minority business community as well as an interest in Management and Operations Consulting Services to the Federal Government.  Strong candidates have the desire to be a part of the legislative and political process and to learn about the workings of federal agencies and the companies they contract.  Candidates MUST have excellent people skills with attention to detail.

We prefer Junior/Senior Government/Political Science, Social Science, and Business Majors, but will consider other majors as well.  Applicants should have excellent writing and communication skills and proficiency in professional applications such as Windows 2000, MS Word.  Candidates should also be able to successfully engage and interact with high-ranking public and private stakeholders while maintaining accurate record of statements and anecdotal comments expressed and representing ProSidian Consulting in a positive and professional light.

Interested candidates should have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA with no history of disciplinary action with collegiate, local, state, or federal authorities.  

As the majority of this work will be done on site, candidates should be able to be in Washington, DC on February 24th and 25th, 2015 and available to work.

The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn, a comfort with consulting as an industry and abstract thoughts and capable of handling a constantly changing environment where work may be strategic and tactical within a small growing firm.  Candidate applications should also demonstrate:

Who Are We Looking For:  Students who have completed at least their sophomore year of college.  We select schools based on an assessment of their ranking, curriculum, location, and likelihood that its students will relocate to a ProSidian Consulting location.  Although ProSidian makes ongoing commitments to recruit interns and new grads from these schools, we welcome candidates from other schools as well.


Visas:  ProSidian Consulting requires all applicants to be eligible to work within the U.S. on a continuing basis and will not sponsor visas for internship roles.  As our internship program is designed to identify candidates for employment after their graduation, we also do not consider candidates for internship positions who eventually would require sponsorship of a work visa to continue to work in the U.S.

Compensation:  Internships for students at ProSidian Consulting are not always paid internships that typically take place over the summer.  ProSidian Consulting hires interns on both a volunteer and paid internship basis; be sure to inquire on the Compensation associated with the internship for which you have applied.
