Job Title: Legislative Coordinator Pay Information: Exempt - $$54,800 - $71,200 Location: Hybrid - 3 days in office and 2 days remote. Essential Functions – must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation: + Coordinates the association’s legislative program, including reviewing introduced and amended bills for interpretation and managing the review process by issue experts. + Maintains information, including notes and positions on identified legislation through Capitol Track system in partnership with lobbyists and policy staff + Maintains system to track, prepare, update and submit legislative letters in a timely manner. Draft and proof bill position letters with input from policy staff, submit to appropriate legislators, legislative committees, and regulatory entities. + Tracks and calendars legislative hearings, budget proposals and administrative or regulatory meetings and/or hearings. Researches, drafts and prepares materials for meetings and hearings. + Serves as the primary scheduler for legislative meetings attended by the public affairs team and for dental student and dental society advocacy days in the Capitol.  + Monitors daily reports and other publications, providing necessary information to the team + Monitors and prepares reports of legislative, regulatory hearings and other policy focused webinars. Tracks and communicates to other areas of the organization legislation that will impact member programs. + Responds to volunteer leader inquiries with a high level of customer service as appropriate, including through the public affairs inbox. + Supports legislative team in advocacy efforts as needed, including scheduling regular meetings with contract lobbyists, consultants, and other departments, and compiling quarterly lobbying activity reports.   Non-Essential Functions: + Drafts and prepares analyses, written reports, power points and fact sheets for internal and external use, supporting and in collaboration with public policy team.  + Serve as support staff for internal councils, committees and workgroups as needed. Includes coordinating the planning and preparation for meetings, working with public affairs team to set agendas, compile meeting materials and minutes, reserving space and food, and coordinating staff, member, and guest attendance. + Serve as a member of CDA’s public policy team and cooperates on interdepartmental efforts to achieve goals. + In collaboration with the director, identify and recommend process improvements for the department. + Coordinate to ensure that appropriate materials are on the website, accessible to members. + Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:   + High school diploma or GED required. + 2-3 years’ experience in a health care related association, member-based association or the legislative/ political arena. + Familiarity with the legislative process, committee structure and calendar. + Ability to balance multiple high-priority tasks, work within time sensitive deadlines and proactively communicate progress. + Exhibit maturity, good judgement, honesty and professionalism. Maintain confidential information and exercise discretion. + Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to prepare a variety of clear and concise administrative and analytical reports. + Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, bill tracking software and web-based databases. Preferred Qualifications: + Knowledge of Capitol Track or similar legislative tracking database. + Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field of study.
