RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Perform inspection activities by collecting data. Communicate and provide feedback to plant. Enter collected data into an electronic file or database. Calibrate gauges per instructions and standards. Maintain gauge control database of calibration (internal and external). Repair gauges (internal and send to sub-contractor for repair). Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas (5S) Comply with all applicable occupational Environmental, Health, and Safety standards, as well as Crown's safety rules and regulations for each task performed. To prevent the risk of injury, report all unsafe conditions and do not perform any unsafe acts. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Per 8-hour shift (stand 5 hrs. sit 1 hr. and walk 2 hrs.) frequently bend/stoop/twist; occasionally reach below knee level, squat/kneel/crawl; infrequently torque, work with arm outstretched, work above chest level. Lifting and carrying frequently from 0 to 20 lbs. and occasionally from 21 to 50 lbs. Must be able to hear, have good vision, distinguish colors, do simple and fine grasping and fine manipulation with both hands. May be required to use fingers to grasp and work with small parts or wires. Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment that includes exposure to coolants, lubricants, dust, shavings, adhesives, solvents, grease, oils, and weld flash. Must be able to work safely in areas of lift truck traffic. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to read and understand blueprints, advanced math skills (may include trigonometry and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), effectively communicate (written and verbal) with other people, read, learn, and understand work instructions, retain knowledge, and advanced understanding of computer workstations (may use programs such as Microsoft Office products, PC DMIS, gauge management software, PolyWorks, Power Inspect, Tracker Pilot, MetLogix, and ERP system). May be required to complete inspection activities per Electrical and Electronic acceptance criteria standards. 3-5 years of experience or 2-year associate degree in Metrology. Gage calibration experience preferred. CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation, advanced surface plate inspections, gear inspections and color lab inspections. Must be able to multi-task. Moderate social interaction. Gather/analyze information and determine the best course of action. Use independent judgement to devise work methods according to general directives, policies, and existing procedures. High school diploma or equivalent is required. May require a valid driver’s license.
