Location: You will be based at Stevenage. You must live within a 60-minute commute of the site location on the day you start your apprenticeship as you are expected to be on site daily. We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn about the early-stage drug discovery process: Large Molecule Discovery (LMD) is a department dedicated to the discovery of novel and effective biopharmaceutical medicines. This department comprises 4 complementary sections focused on the progression of a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation to molecular engineering and biological and physiochemical profiling. As an apprentice you will be based in one of the 4 sections where you will learn a variety of skills based on that section. Throughout your apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to rotate to other sections within the department and further expand your skill set and knowledge of drug discovery. Work with teams of excellent multi-disciplined scientists both internally and externally to progress a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation to molecular engineering and biological and physiochemical profiling. Learn and apply specialist knowledge and scientific understanding to carry out a range of technical and scientific activities in an R&D laboratory environment. Use a range of cutting-edge technologies and approaches to help answer key questions throughout the different phases of drug discovery and development. Operate and maintain specialist laboratory equipment’s to perform analytical tests as part of the drug development processes. Develop, evaluate, and interpret reports of experimental data using analytical tools to enable decision making, propose solutions and drive improvements.
