POSITION SUMMARY The NICU RN is an important part of the medical team providing round-the-clock care for premature and ill newborn infants and their families. The responsibilities of a NICU Nurse include caring for infants’ basic needs, such as diaper changes and feeding, and coordinating the infants’ medical treatments with the NICU physician. The NICU nurse also offers comfort and support to premature and ill newborns and their patients and family members. The NICU nurse should have a caring and empathic nature, work well under pressure in a stressful environment, and be able to coordinate treatments and work with a team of neonatal healthcare professionals. A NICU nurse should also have a working knowledge of the complex NICU environment used to treat at risk newborns. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education Associates Degree in NursingMinimum Experience 1 year preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification Current and valid RN license from AL BLS within 90 days of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation required within 3 months of hire
Preferred Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience 2 years of NICU experience
Preferred Registration/License/Certification N/A
