Overview
KBRA Analytics is seeking an experienced reporter to join our KBRA Direct Lending Deals team in the New York or Chicago office. The reporter will play a large role in expanding KBRA DLD’s coverage of the US private credit market. The reporter will be expected to work independently to generate scoops, monitor announcements for day-to-day reporting and write trend stories. Existing contacts and deep knowledge of private credit/leveraged finance/capital markets is a must, along with impeccable writing and reporting skills. Expect travel to industry conferences.
Job Responsibilities
Self-generate scoops on private credit financing from a variety of sources including market contacts, press releases and regulatory filings. Workload is skewed toward day-to-day reporting but will include longer trend and data-based stories; This may include contributions to weekly commentary, and monthly & quarterly research reports Independently develop new contacts and maintain a strong base of market sources through individual in-person meetings and industry events Know and maintain relationships with key people at top firms in the market Work alongside the editorial team to determine market coverage; Generate ideas to enhance coverage Monitor and track trends in private credit, as well as adjacent markets and the broader economy Must be conscientious of deadlines and turn in clean copy ready for printQualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism Impeccable written, verbal, and presentation skills. Minimum 3 years of work experience in covering private credit/leveraged finance/capital markets Have an established list of contacts Understanding of private credit lender landscape, deal terms, and fund vehicles such as CLOs and BDCs. Understanding of differing reporting patterns for BDC financial statements and schedules of investments Knowledge of SEC filing forms. Knowledge of how investor clients use financial data. Familiarity with PowerPoint and Microsoft ExcelSubmissions
Candidates are expected to submit contact information for two references of past reporting experience and three examples of stories published within the past 12 months. Examples can include a range of spot reporting as well as longer-form pieces. All candidates will be subject to a 60-minute written test to demonstrate judgement and reporting skills.
Salary Range
The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $135,000, plus the potential for an annual bonus. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
