The General Liability Attorney at Publix plays a crucial role in safeguarding the company's interests by overseeing the legal defense of lawsuits initiated by customers, consumers, or the public, excluding certain discrimination actions. This position is pivotal in managing a diverse range of legal matters, including general liability, product, fleet, and pharmacy lawsuits, across the eight states where Publix operates. The General Liability Attorney is tasked with developing and enhancing processes and policies for litigated and attorney-represented claims. Additionally, this role involves managing legal costs, providing legal advice at various levels, and serving as a liaison to other business and support units within Publix. The responsibilities outlined are not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Manage and oversee all legal functions within the organization to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Oversee the handling and resolution of claims to minimize legal risks and financial exposure. Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and other departments on various legal matters. Develop and implement legal strategies to support the organization's business objectives. Manage relationships with external law firms and legal service providers to ensure effective and efficient legal support. Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and policy development. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Ensure the organization's legal interests are protected in all transactions and interactions. Monitor changes in legislation and regulations that may impact the organization and advise on necessary actions. Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals to enhance their skills and performance.
