The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This position will supervise and train staff to ensure excellence in customer service and adherence to the Broward County policies and procedures, resolve day-to-day operational issues and address escalating customer concerns, project or program coordination, cultivating outreach efforts, supporting division-wide initiatives, and may serve as an Assistant Manager at a Library location/section, or as a member of the Floating Team. This role involves staying updated on contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession. Additionally, this position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs, and readers advisory. At the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, this role involves staying updated on contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession, particularly in research libraries, archives, and special collections. The position also requires coordinating with Special Collections staff to handle researcher inquiries using databases, acquiring reference materials for the archival collection, and assisting researchers in the reading room. Regularly participate in the curation of research materials; and develop collections in line with the mission of the organization.
This position requires the individual to model the highest level of excellent customer service and professionalism to internal and external customers of the Division. Additionally, the essential skills of this position requires an individual who is flexible and adaptable in performing tasks and meeting customers’ needs.

General Description:
Supervises the performance of and performs library services, providing customer service to library patrons.
