Library Media Specialist

The Library Media Specialist demonstrates the ability tocreate a learning environment that encourages reading and informationtechnology literacy. The Library MediaSpecialist leads and models the effective use of the current information mediaof the day and uses effective techniques in communication and instructionaltechnology to foster active inquiry and collaboration. The Library MediaSpecialist is able to adapt to and implement educational change initiatives andcomply with applicable policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings
+ Establishes and communicates high academic expectations withregard to state and local curriculum objectives
+ Plans, designs, and arranges school library mediacenters
+ Evaluates, selects, and maintains materials for the generaland professional collections
+ Stays current with educational trends, current research, andtechnological advances
+ Collaborates with curriculum committees, leadership teams,assessment
+ Models for students, teachers, and educational support staffthe strategies for locating, accessing, and evaluating information within andoutside of the library media center
+ Demonstrates knowledge of educational research, trends, andbest practices
+ Communicates and interacts professionally with students,parents, staff, and community
+ Participates in district-wide and building committeesrelated to educational and employment matters, as applicable
+ Adheres to district and Amergis' policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
+ Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Education) or relatedfield.
+ Understanding and experience with curriculum design,planning and instruction
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
