What you’ll do
License Review
License review and risk evaluation of various forms of third-party IP (Intellectual Property) and other materials, including:o Free and Open Source Software (FOSS),
o (Free) Third-party web APIs/services,
o (Free) Third-party contents and standards (e.g. data sets). Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on licensing efforts of third-party IP through meetings, emails, and service tickets. High level review of the technical integration of third-party IP. Prepare and present approval requests and risk evaluations and mitigation plans. Interpret license materials as well as technical use cases to help SAP make informed decisions. Enhance, simplify and improve third-party license review process in collaboration with legal team.
Open Source Legal notices (OSLN) - external customer requirements
Perform research task: verify records, identify source code, extract copyright information from source, input data.
Software Quality Analysis
Conduct research into open source software: This includes substantive investigations into all areas of open source components: licensing, security vulnerabilities, vibrancy and adoption rates of open source projects, etc. Administer and utilize static analysis tools to help assess and triage risk: you will become a super-user of some of the industry’s leading open source management tools: Black Duck, WhiteSource, NexB, FOSSology, SW360, ClearlyDefined, etc. Help developers understand and manage the hierarchical dependencies (both direct and transitive) of open source. Communicate directly with developers to: Understand use cases within the context of SAP solutions, Support fulfillment of open source obligations and manage any relevant issues that may arise.
What you bring
Bachelor or Master Degree in Business, Law, Management of Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent degree. Basic expertise in open source or other third-party licensing terms. Familiarity with licensing, contracts, risk assessment and compliance. Basic understanding of compliance concepts and interest in legal/finance processes. Knowledge of the software development lifecycle is an advantage. Customer service skills - high service attitude, while making no compromises on compliance. Ability to think proactively and create pragmatic solutions. High level of ownership, responsibility, motivation, and drive. Flexible team player able to deal with transition and change.
