Position Summary:
Seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join a dynamic team. Good teamwork and communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing individual, group, and family therapy to diverse populations, with a focus on serving the LGBTQ+ community. Responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients experiencing a range of mental health concerns. All documentation must follow State statutes and grant funding requirements. Expected caseload- 25-28 clients per week. Additionally, the LMHC will provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed staff and interns. Expected caseload of registered interns- 2-4.
Position Description:
Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning:
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to identify client needs and goals.Develop individualized treatment plans that are culturally sensitive and affirming of clients' identities.Therapeutic Interventions:
Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and other modalities as appropriate.Utilize affirmative therapy practices to support clients in exploring issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.Client Advocacy & Support:
Advocate for clients within the agency and in the community to ensure access to needed resources and support services.Facilitate support groups focused on issues pertinent to the LGBTQ+ community, such as coming out, transitioning, and relationship concerns.Attend community outreach events, including the Pride March and the FL AIDS Walk.Provide crisis intervention as needed.Collaboration & Consultation:
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers, to ensure holistic care for clients.Provide consultation and training to agency staff on LGBTQ+ cultural competence and best practices in mental health care.Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with agency policies and state regulations.Participate in regular clinical supervision and professional development activities to enhance skills and maintain licensure.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the techniques and principles of adult, child, and family development, family systems theory, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, child abuse and family violence, and trauma informed care.Considerable knowledge of community resources throughout Broward Strong communication and counseling Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with other Willingness to pursue continuing education in clinical issues relevant to areas of clinical practice at SunServe.Strong computerQualifications:
Master's degree in Licensed Mental Health Counseling.Active license in the state of Florida.Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in a community mental health or LGBTQ+ competent setting.Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and families.Strong knowledge of LGBTQ+ cultural issues and affirmative therapy practices.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.Benefits:
