Licensed/ Credentialed MHP is an individual who is trained to provide a safe environment and function under nursing supervision. The Licensed/ Credentialed MHP assists the patient in meeting basic human needs. The role is designated as a licensed professional in the state of Ohio or holds a national certification in recreational therapy.
The position has the following functions:
1. Under supervision, provides to individuals and groups, care requiring the application of basic knowledge of the safety, biological, physical, behavioral, environmental safety, spiritual and social skills.
2. Under the supervision of the department director and /or physician provides individual and group therapy according to their licensure/ certification and skill set. Care includes physical observation and data collection, provision of direct patient care, and collaboration implementation of plans of care. Care of patient takes into consideration their developmental capabilities and physiological processes. Care is provided in collaboration with the therapies of other health care disciplines. Assures patient / significant other or guardian is informed regarding the plans of care when appropriate release of information is signed.
