Description:What you will do as a Pharmacy Tech Specialist: Provides daily pharmaceutical supportive services for the Department of Pharmacy according to established procedures and in compliance with pharmacy laws, other regulatory agencies and other members of the multidisciplinary team.Performs pharmacy supportive functions requiring an advanced level of training and additional levels of responsibility; may focus on team leadership or advanced technical skills.Performs tasks requiring independent judgement, advanced technical skills, and creative problem solving.Demonstrates performance that consistently meets quality assurance standards.
What you will need as a Pharmacy Tech Specialist:Minimum two year experience as a pharmacy technician with progressively more specialized knowledge of pharmacy technician responsibilities and/or advanced skills in medication compounding, oncology pharmacy, drug diversion, pharmacy automation/technology, receiving/purchasing, outpatient pharmacy, and overall pharmacy operations. Two years of hospital experience for hospital specialist position or 2 years of outpatient pharmacy experience for outpatient pharmacy specialist position.Current licensure as Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan.Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).High School Graduate or GED or equivalent. Completion of an Associates Degree is preferredExcellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groupsEssential mathematics skills to be able to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure.Possesses effective computer and keyboarding skills; ability to work Pharmacy Information Systems and automation used in the medication use process. Able to use email to communicate with other members of the department including pharmacy management.Analytical skills to effectively resolve controlled substance discrepancies and routine distribution problems.Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to make decisions in a fast based work environment.A team oriented colleague that is detail oriented and passionate about medication and patient safety.Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
