Qualifications: + Valid Washington State Registered Associates Degree RN. + Experience in the case of school age children. + Current CPR/1 st Aid certification + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to follow detailed instructions + Ability to lift and move with children, and to sit with them on the floor + Experience as a RN in a school setting is preferred Other Requirements: + Ability to lift, move, physically restrain a child of the size required by the job + Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements Essential Functions: + Work in a flexible and cooperative manner + Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times + Serve as a positive role model for students, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students + Must be flexible to reassignment if student is absent for a day or longer + Ability to work well as a team with student and teacher in a classroom situation. + Ability to maintain professionalism + Ability to abide by school policies and regulations + Assess and provide for the critical needs of student with life-threatening medical condition requiring ongoing physical assessment, nursing treatments, and medication administration. + Assimilate pertinent student information; assist in developing and implementing the care plan; and make changes to facilitate positive treatment outcomes. Under limited supervision, communicate significant changes to appropriate health care provider. + Provide invasive care within scope of practice (e.g. catheterization of students, rectal administration of diazepam, g-tube feedings). + Document student/child care administered as part of the student health plan. + Facilitate collaboration and communication between all interdisciplinary team members to meet student goals. + Administer selected medications and treatments. + Assist with student/family education. + Assist with interpretation of medical histories, physical exam reports. + Collect data related to health care services provided for assigned student. + Collaborate with administrators and other staff to identify building and environmental health needs related to assigned student. + Maintain frequent communication with school nurse supervisor. + Maintain confidentiality. + Work with specialized medical equipment used by student. Insure that equipment is functioning properly. + Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district.
