Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides assistance to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming with recognized standards and as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Principal Responsibilities: Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within. Direct patient flow and prepare patients for exams. Facilitate collection of all necessary information required for patient visits. Accurately record pertinent information in the chart and insure necessary patient care paperwork is processed and forwarded in a timely manner. Accept and return patient phone calls, and insure that callbacks and prescription refills are completed in a timely fashion consistent with physician guidelines and scope of practice as well as clinic guidelines. Document pertinent information accurately. Assist providers with procedures as directed and maintain asepsis. Perform invasive procedures for which he/she has the training and skills. Proactively monitor physician schedules for accuracy. Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation in most inservices/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/department policies and procedures. Actively participate in cleaning of shared work areas and keep exam rooms clean, neat and stocked. Participate in orientation of new employees. Education, licensure and experience: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Current unencumbered licensure in Oregon. Zero to six months previous experience in acute care and/or an office/clinic setting.Current BLS certification.  Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care. Ability to prioritize. Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast-paced work environment.
