**Description:**
Unit 2-5 is a 40 bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit caring for patients admitted to our hospitalist’s service. We serve patients with a variety of acute medical, cardiac and respiratory conditions. We monitor class I telemetry and manage cardiac drips. Specialized training includes CORE EKG and ventilator care with capacity to care for prolonged ventilated patients. We encourage and participate in the NICHE program for our geriatric population. We incorporate a primary care nursing model with a team approach to meet the needs of the patient population.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed health care provider who provides nursing care under the direction of an RN,
physician, or other authorized health care provider. There is no independent component to the LPN role.
The Nurse Practice Act defines the practice of a LPN as “performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding,
health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or
licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with the
commissioner’s regulations.”
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nurses holding a current licensure or temporary permit from the State of New
York.
Participates in orientation and continuing education, updating and maintaining knowledge and skills related to specific areas of
expertise.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Current BLS/CPR certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Clinical setting – Exposure Class I – Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium work: Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting a maximum of 50 pounds. Will require the ability to
stand, walk, sit, bend, twist squat and reach.
WORK CONTACT GROUP:
All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies.
SUPERVISED BY:
Registered Nurses, physician, or other authorized health care provider.
Pay Range: $24.00 - $30.95
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
