Job Description:

The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Current LPN License in state of practices.Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.LPNs hired into hospital departments that do not include a long-term care or behavioral health setting must be enrolled and complete their RN within 4 years.Approved IV Certification (as required by facility).Clean driving record (as required by facility).Ability to link-up to the company on-line database twice a day (as required by facility).

Job Essentials
Patient Care:

May assist in the admission and check-in process by orienting patient or significant other to patient care setting (e.g., routines, patient care, patient rights).Assists with the completion of needed forms.Assists in the collection, reporting, and documentation of appropriate assessment data. This may include taking and recording vital signs, height and weight, current medication information, and billing information.Identifies patient pain or discomfort and reports and responds appropriately.Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living.Prepares patient for medical or surgical medical interventions.Completes interventions within Scope of Practice.Assists physician or licensed independent practitioner with treatments or procedures.Obtains and tracks specimens for laboratory analysis (e.g., venipunctures, stool, urine).Prepares, administers, and manages medication (oral, IM, SQ, rectal, intradermal).Assists with stocking and coordinating supplies as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$25.58 - $39.49
