Licensed Practical Nurse Scope Of Practice:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse you know that every day is different, which is why you need to know how to:

Perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of the practice.Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes bandages.Prepares patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.Conveys information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratory testing and resulting.Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards.

Unit Information:

Medical Oncology is 32 beds with 4 that can be Ibed or step down for Oncology patients. We provide many levels of service. That includes and is not limited to:

Chemo care for patients that have received oral radiation and care to patients that require admitting due to complications related to chemo. Newly diagnosed patients and help with setting them up for success moving forward. Comfort care/ end of life patients. Behavioral based patients, dementia, general med/surg such as respiratory, GI, GU, post surgical patients.

In pertinence to team comradery, consistent positive work ethic also extends within the interdisciplinary teams. The oncology unit supports career growth. We offer oncology specific education offered monthly by different levels of oncology caregivers including bed side nurses, clinic nurses, our oncologists, their APPs and more.

Minimum Qualifications
Required

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program requiredCurrent/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board is required Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required If applicable. IV Certification is required within the first 90 days of hire.


Preferred

One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting preferredOne (1) year Specialty clinic experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
