Position Highlights:

Sign-On Bonus Details:

New Graduates (0- less than 1 year of experience): $10,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment to UPMC. Experienced LPNs (1+ years of experience): $12,500 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment to UPMC.

About the 10EW Department: The 10EW unit is a 30-bed Acuity Adaptable Adult Acute Care Unit. Our specialized care unit is designed to provide comprehensive care for a wide range of acute medical conditions without the need for patient transfers. From general medical care to intensive monitoring, we offer the flexibility to meet our patients’ evolving needs. Our expertise includes hepatology, endocrinology, and pulmonary care, and we care for a diverse patient population. The dynamic nature of our unit ensures continuous, high-quality care, while minimizing patient stress associated with unit transfers.

Responsibilities:

LPNs utilize nursing judgment, knowledge, and experience to participate in patient care planning, implementation, and evaluation. They communicate with RNs and healthcare teams when patient needs exceed their scope, skills, or when conditions change significantly. An LPN shall communicate with a licensed professional nurse and the patient’s health care team members to seek guidance when: The patient’s care needs exceed the licensed practical nursing scope of practice.  The patient’s care needs surpass the LPN’s knowledge, skill, or ability. The patient’s condition deteriorates or there is a significant change in condition, the patient is not responding to therapy, the patient becomes unstable, or the patient needs immediate assistance. LPNs seek supervision for unfamiliar practices, adhere to established policies, and follow UPMC LPN Practice Guidelines and the State Practice Act. They set holistic care goals with patient involvement and ensure comprehensive documentation to enhance communication among caregivers. LPNs focus on patient safety, quality, and satisfaction, fostering compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. They provide effective education to patients and families, seek feedback for continuous improvement, and identify opportunities for clinical and workplace enhancement. LPNs build productive relationships, demonstrate accountability, respect cultural differences, and promote a healthy work-life balance while addressing safety concerns in the workplace.
