Summary:

The Rehab Services LicensedSpeech-Language Pathologists (SLP) at Riverside Medical Center are committed to the provision of culturally and linguistically appropriate services in order to optimize individuals' ability to communicate and swallow, thereby improving quality of life. At Riverside, LicensedSpeech-language pathologists support and engage in science driven, evidence-based practice while providing care to customers. The LicensedSpeech-language pathologists provides screening, diagnostic evaluation and treatment services to patients exhibiting speech/language disorders (including cognition and voice) and/or swallowing disorders upon referral by a physician. The SLP reviews implementation of policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to the administration of speech pathology services within the Riverside Health System.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

Must possess a Master's Degree with a Major in Speech Pathology.

 

License or Certification Requirements:

Must possess (or be eligible for) Illinois State Licensure for Speech/Language Pathology. Must possess (or be eligible for) the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Attends continuing education events and conducts in-service programs upon course completion.Attends interdisciplinary conferences as appropriate.Confers with department head about policies and procedures relating to speech therapy.Documentation matches charges upon chart auditing.Ensures self and team compliance with dashboard and Quality Indicators.Evaluates swallowing using videofluoroscopic studies in Radiology with accompanying reportFunctions as a clinical instructor for student speech pathologists as scheduling allows.Functions as a responsible team member to ensure appropriate scheduling of patients and distribution of workload, both intra and extra departmentally.Maintains timely and accurate documentation that meets all compliance standards and contains personalized patient education and plan of care.Makes requisitions for major equipment and supplies and is responsible for the upkeep of this equipment as it relates to SLP services.Meets the following productivity percentage on Outpatient, Acute and Rehab: less than or equal to 79.99 (NI), 80-81.99 (ME), 82-83.99 (M&SE), greater than 84 (CE).Participates in and coordinates the assessment of individual competencies for SLPs.Participates in community and departmental activities that promote rehabilitation and wellness.Participates in Quality Improvement efforts, e.g., Journal Club, inservices, Magnet, chart auditing, etc.Provides diagnostic and treatment services while maintaining high professional standards amd evidenced-based practice.Provides information and suggestions for communication with patients to staff, family and other close care individualsScreens, evaluates, and treats patients upon referral by a physicianWorks independently under general supervision and takes ownership of workload and volumes.
