Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) The Center for Bird & Exotic Animal Medicine

The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) is an exclusive bird and exotic animal veterinary hospital with the expertise to provide compassionate, competent care for all species of non-traditional pets located near Seattle, WA. We are available for both scheduled appointments 7 days a week and are the only exotic-exclusive hospital to offer 24-hour emergency care. Our center is dedicated to providing optimal medical care for birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other exotic pets. This requires specialized treatments, diagnostic protocols, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities designed for these species. Our doctors' advanced training in exotic animal medicine make them uniquely qualified to offer wellness, emergency, and critical care for avian and exotic pets. 

The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine in Bothell is seeking a motivated candidate with an interest in joining our fantastic team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. We are a 24hr Emergency Veterinary Hospital that treats all types of animals except for domestic dogs and cats, horses and cows. Expect to see and treat many unique species of pets with a caring and committed team and experienced, capable doctors!

Duties associated with this position include (but are not limited to):

Obtain and record patient histories. Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests in hematology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems. Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. Administer fluids and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian. Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals. Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery. Assure that monitoring and support equipment such as anesthetic machines, cardiac monitors, scopes and breathing apparatus are in good working condition. Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures using a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment including electrocardiographic, radiographic and ultrasonographic equipment. Take and process radiographs. Communicate with and educate owners. Support intake and check out clients, as needed. Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations in order to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines and medications, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which their pet would benefit, such as CLAW Plans, senior wellness, spay and neuter. Educate clients on products and medications sold including dietary products and answer questions regarding product purchase/use. Assist with inventory of pharmaceuticals, equipment and supplies. Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials. Knowledgeable regarding related federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA. Ensure that the hospital and its employees are in compliance with regulations. Inform the Veterinary Hospital Manager or Hospital Administrator of any regulatory issues. Work well with all team members and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

WA State Veterinary Technician License (Required) Veterinary Technician experience: 1 year (Preferred) Exotic Veterinary Clinic experience: 1 year (Preferred) Experience working with AVIMARK (Preferred)

Requirements:

Active WA State Veterinary Technician License Ability to reliably commute to location Ability to traverse stairs and stand for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 40lbs Excellent oral and written communication skills Legally authorized to work in the United States High School Diploma or GED

Shift Availability:

Hiring for Swing Shifts and Overnight Shifts Must have weekend availability Full-Time (32-40hrs/week) 4 day work schedule

The base salary range for this full-time position is $28.00/hr-$33.00/hr. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
