JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients under supervision of the physician or APP. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.

Minimum EducationCompletion of Vocational Nursing Program or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Minimum Work ExperienceOne-year License Vocational Nurse experience
Required Licenses/CertificationsCurrent state vocational nurse license
Current CPR certificate
Required Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesKnowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology; familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions; understanding of documentation standards
Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment; understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening
Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality
Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the business practices including principles of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff; knowledge of medications and other pharmacological agents used in a clinic setting
Knowledge in diseases and disease processes
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods
Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff, and others
