Licensing Manager

TerraPower is seeking a highly motivated Licensing Manager to be a part of the Natrium® Licensing team. This position reports to the Director of Licensing and provides leadership to the Natrium advanced reactor project, oversees development of licensing documents, and manages regulatory engagements. Work will be in close consultation with Engineering staff and will ensure Licensing activities are executed in accordance with TerraPower licensing strategy and guidance. Management of engagements with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission includes pre-application meetings, regulatory audits and inspections, Construction Permit Application revisions, topical reports, and future licensing applications.

The Licensing Manager is responsible for leading a distributed group of licensing engineers focused on a 10 CFR 50 licensing approach for an advanced sodium-cooled fast reactor design. The established team is highly capable and will benefit from a driven, experienced leader. The Licensing Manager will need to work closely with the entire Licensing team as well as other departments and organizations across the project.

Responsibilities

•    Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of on-going licensing activities

•    Accountable for quality and timely licensing documents, including a Construction Permit Application or Operating License Application (e.g., Safety Analysis Report and Environmental Report)

•    Coordinate with project stakeholders to prepare and review responses to NRC audit questions and requests for additional information

•    Ensure designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements

•    Oversee preparation, review, and maintenance of licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and strict quality assurance standards

•    Interface with technical discipline teams within TerraPower and partners

•    Review correspondence to and from regulatory agencies

•    Develop licensing strategies to support project goals

 

Key Qualifications and Skills

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience

•    8+ years of experience in the nuclear industry is required

•    2+ years of new or advanced reactor licensing or oversight is required

•    2+ years of previous supervisory or mentoring experience, or equivalent people leadership experience is required

•    Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards

•    Familiarity with 10 CFR regulations and guidance, content of 10 CFR 50 applications, and risk-informed, performance-based regulatory guidance

•    Excellent communicator, team oriented, willing to operate within a matrix organization, and able to direct remote team members

•    Possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork

•    Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications

Job details

Salary Range Level 12: $169,922 - $235,464

Salary Range Level 13: $194,197 - $279,158

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands.  Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
