Licensing Manager

Pay Range:  

$65000 - $80000 / year

Purpose

Performs managerial functions in the review and administration of initial and renewal licensing procedures for insurance producer licensing. Ensures that state regulations and policies are implemented correctly to maintain compliance. The Licensing Manager will be responsible for managing the licensing coordinators/staff in day-to-day performance. Ensures that projects, department, and company goals are met for the area, while adhering to established policies and procedures.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Oversees a team of licensing specialists and supervisor who process new and renewal insurance producer licenses, manages entity licenses, oversees franchise license compliance, and conducts pre-license training.

Audits and reviews work to ensure that all information pertaining to specific license requirements is complete and in compliance including, but not limited to, pre-licensing,
applications, backgrounds, appointments and affiliations, fingerprints, exams, and continuing education.

Directs employees in meeting quality and on-time delivery requirements, addresses licensing challenges, and communicates issues to relevant senior managers.

Achieves, maintains and proficiently applies knowledge and competencies to perform all tasks in order to provide coverage when needed and mentor and train personnel.

Manages work flows and ensures team members understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks. Receives, tracks, and resolves complaints from employees, state insurance depts., and management team, as needed.

Manages licensing personnel and workflow, to include determining staffing needs, monitoring and assigning workload, conducting performance evaluations, assessing training needs, providing guidance and mentoring, recommending employee hiring or termination, and implementing progressive disciplinary action.

Escalates issues to Director when appropriate.

Provides a pleasant and rewarding working environment for team members. Sets performance goals and deadlines in alignment with company’s vision, area’s goals, while monitoring budget and reporting variances/issues to Director. Meets with sales leaders to ensure open communication regarding processes and procedures.

Ensures communication on open issues and escalations, as needed.

Compiles weekly reports to monitor licenses and counts of individuals in the licensing process.

Meets with team members and leadership regularly. Provides ad-hoc reports as requested by other teams within the organization.

Determines way to improve licensing systems and processes.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

5+ years of experience in insurance producer licensing

5+ years of management experience in a related area

Considerable knowledge of insurance producer licensing and general laws

Detail-oriented mindset, excellent organization skills, and ability to adhere to deadlines

Proven success in a corporate supervisory role, working with various levels of management

Ability to plan, supervise, coordinate, and direct the work of others

Ability to evaluate situations, with experience in customer service and conflict resolution

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with an ability to communicate across departments

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, peers, sales staff, and governmental strategies

Strong ability to motivate team members and create a rewarding work environment
