**Job Description Summary** **Job Description** POSITION TITLE : Engineer Lead / Manufacturing SCOPE: effectively provide leadership activities, training, supervising, administrating, coaching, and Project/metric tracking. Independently coach and mentor engineers and mechanics, methods and issue resolution for existing and new projects and teams. Provides engineering skills and activities in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, process, industrial, Project management activities surrounding capital projects or internal upgrades. Mechanical (electromechanical) design/re-design of custom production equipment used in the manufacture of finished goods. Oversee the construction, start-up, and commissioning of engineered production machinery, new product startups, quality improvements, cost reduction and continuous improvement project implementation. Provides specific engineering work related to field of expertise with broad overlap between engineering disciplines expected. Coordinate all required activities (quality, production, facilities, Purchasing, validation etc.) to bring projects to fruition. Responsible for leading project teams, capacity calculations, planning, along with support in budgets and financial justifications, train engineers on validation and mentoring on six sigma projects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Impact/Accountability - This position directly impacts the cost position of manufactured product, and fiscal impact based on actual vs. promised delivery dates. Accountable for performing appropriate level of engineering, technical related activities around process improvements and new product developments. Sphere of influence (liaison) - Other plant engineering staff, R&D engineering, outside of plant machine vendors, platform functions, in-house technicians and operators. Degree of Accountability (discretion/supervision) - Accountable for project completion according to schedule and within budget and capable of meeting cost impact estimated for project justification. Supervise Engineer, Jr engineer, mechanics. Supervise non-exempt technical resources. Financial Impact - Medium impact for end product and production costs and equipment efficiencies. Capital projects generally ranging from $10K to $250K. Poor performance could result in potential product recalls, Assures that predicted savings are tracked. Decision Making - Most decisions reviewed by engineering coordinator or unit manger. All key decisions subject to review by engineering Manager, and or Plant Leadership. Invariable makes daily decisions impacting capital and MRO purchases. Ensure compliance with all applicable Regulations and Standards as defined in BD Quality and Environmental Manual and enterprise I.T. systems. EDUCATION: Fully Bilingual, B.S Engineering, Six Sigma Green Belt certification, Lean Manufacturing certified, process validation, Solid Works, Microsoft Office, Presentation Skills, Project Management Skills, Risk Management Skills, Knowledge of Materials Processing, Knowledge of Machine Shop Practices, Materials, Safety and Ergonomics, TPM and Cost Estimating. EXPERIENCE: Engineering Team Leadership Expertise, 5 years on automatization Expertise, General Mechanical/electrical and Manufacturing Engineering expertise related to manual, semiautomatic and auto assembly equipment and packaging equipment for low to medium volume production of Medical Devices. 5 years of Expertise on Automatization Skills: Thorough knowledge of engineering practices and procedures. Thorough knowledge of machine shop practices. Thorough knowledge of mechanisms and materials. Thorough knowledge of design concepts. Excellent oral and written communication skills. PC skills including excel, word, minitab, powerpoint, CAD, Visio, SAP and MS Project. Design Software skills including 3D modeling software.
