Life Actuary Senior Consultant

Life Actuary Senior Consultant

Deloitte Consulting’s actuarial practice is a leading advisor and implementation partner working with Individual Life and Annuity insurance companies. Our goal is to improve our clients’ organizational results and impact by focusing on their critical business challenges leveraging actuarial skills.

Work you’ll do

As a Deloitte Consulting Life Actuary Senior Consultant in the Actuarial & Insurance Solutions group you will bring unique actuarial, analytical, and data sciences perspective in a management consulting environment. Selected job functions include leading medium sized teams in the following activities:

Proactively follow current market trends across life insurance and annuity products, markets and regulations; anticipate future client needs and prepare accordinglyRedesign and modernize core business functions for life insurance clients, including new business and underwriting operations, product development, financial reporting, modeling, and related functionsSupport deployment of modern-day tools, technologies, data sources, & analytics in such modernization initiatives, to achieve objectives such as improved stakeholder experiences, reduced costs, and more actionable or insightful resultsParticipate on teams to identify, design, and deploy proprietary models, algorithms, data sets, or other assets or project acceleratorsProvide support in developing internal and external eminence, research, and solution developmentProvide subject matter expertise to consulting teams to facilitate the integration of actuarial with data science, technology, underwriting, distribution, finance, and other functionsActively support the sales process with other senior leadersAssist the Deloitte Audit Function, a separate business unit at Deloitte, providing professional actuarial assurance over the material accuracy of selected actuarial balances for selected attest clientsServe as a role model advocate for recruiting, training, people development, and overall strategic planning for the practice.

Actuarial & Insurance Solutions

Deloitte’s Actuarial & Insurance Solutions practice works with finance, actuarial, analytics and risk functions to help life insurance companies, property & casualty insurance companies, health plans, and healthcare providers modernize their operations and manage actuarial costs and risks. This involves helping our clients move from where they are today to where they need to be in the future. To enable our success, we use data and insights to inform better ways of managing risk.

With over 250 credentialed actuaries in the U.S., our A&IS practice is one of the largest in the world. We are recognized as a leader in providing comprehensive, high-quality actuarial consulting, advanced analytics, and risk management services to our clients.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree4+ years of Life Actuary experienceSuccessfully passed 4 actuarial examsLimited immigration sponsorship may be availableAbility to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will have a meaningful set of knowledge and experience across a subset of the following dimensions for individual life insurance and annuities:

Product development, including product design, pricing, filing and implementation, ideally across multiple distribution channelsDevelopment of experience studies for core life actuarial assumptions, such as lapse, mortality, expenses, etc.Assumption setting for multiple purposes spanning pricing, forecasting, financial reporting and /or embedded valueActuarial projections models for multiple purposes spanning pricing, financial planning, ALM, and financial reportingFinancial reporting across a subset of the relevant accounting methodologies (statutory, US GAAP, IFRS, tax) for a subset of the full range of individual life insurance and annuity productsMergers and acquisitions, including understanding of purchase accountingDemonstrated ability to create followship among staff as an admired leaderSelf-motivation to achieve the ASA or FSA designation, with demonstrated, consistent progressDemonstrated ability and confidence to lead medium sized teams

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $124,950 to $208,250.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
