Life Science Research Professional 2 (2 Year Fixed Term) **School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States** Research Post Date Dec 12, 2024 Requisition # 105412 The Stanford Brain Organogenesis Program within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University SchoolofMedicineisseekingahighlymotivated LifeScienceResearchProfessional2 tojoinDr.SergiuPasca’sresearchprogram in a 2-year fixed term role. OurStanfordresearchteamseekstounderstandtherulesthatgovernthemolecularandcellularstepsunderlyingtheassemblyof the human brain and the molecular mechanisms that lead to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. We are developing bottom-up approaches to generate and assemble, from multi-cellular components, human neural circuits. More specifically, we have pioneered the generation from human pluripotent stem cells of brain region-specific organoids ( _Nature Methods_ 2015; _Neuron_ 2017; _Nature Methods_ 2019; _Nature Neuroscience_ 2019) and assembloids ( _Nature_ 2017; _Nature Biotechnology_ 2020; _Cell_ 2020), which we applied to gain mechanistic insights into disease ( _Nature Medicine_ 2018; _Nature Medicine_ 2020).Our ultimate goal is to identify novel and reliable drug targets for neuropsychiatric disorders.
