The PS Huang Lab is seeking a Life Science Research Professional to join our team exploring a wide variety of protein design challenges. You will perform and support complex lab experiments working independently to support various research projects. Your work will focus primarily on providing bacterial molecular biology support, genetic library construction, protein production, and high-throughput protein optimization using yeast surface display techniques. This work will contribute to several projects ongoing in the lab that are focused on developing novel protein platforms for a variety of applications. Then help us to forge a new generation of custom-made protein tools! **Your responsibilities include:** + Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. + Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. + Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher. + Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. + Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. + Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed. + Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques. _*Other duties as assigned._ **Additional Duties:** + Contribute to projects investigating protein dynamics and design + Employ techniques used with in-depth knowledge in Rosetta molecular modeling suite. + Must keep an accurate laboratory notebook for all studies. + Plan and perform experiments molecular cloning, library construction and yeast display screen, as well as knowledge in operating a cell sorter for library optimization. + Offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with graduate and post-doctoral individuals. + Make recommendations on the research design and direction. + Plan and coordinate experiments from beginning to end. Responsible for interpretation of data and findings and maintaining detailed records of experiments and outcomes, suggesting modifications to existing procedures when needed. + May also be required to recommend changes in protocols to prevent reoccurrence of problems. **Education & Experience (Required):** + Bachelor's degree in related scientific field. **Education & Experience (Desired):** + One to two years relevant work experience. **Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):** + General understanding of scientific principles.
