Life Science Research Professional **School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States** Research Post Date May 24, 2024 Requisition # 103391 TheDivision of Oncologyin the Department of Medicine at Stanford University is seeking a full-time Life Science Research Professional to join our laboratory focused on translational research projects. Our lab, as part of the Division of Oncology, works at the intersection of basic laboratory science and clinical medicine. Our research actively uses tools from multiple disciplines, including molecular and cellular biology, genomics, bioengineering, and data science to study human cancers and build new tools to detect and treat disease. Our group has a strong focus on novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches with a goal of translating new discoveries into patient care. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, this research professional will conduct experiments to support ongoing projects in the lab, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. The position includes work with human specimens, cell culture, and nucleic acids including molecular biology and DNA sequencing. The successful applicant will become a member of a research team and must interact productively with other members of the team. The work of the Division of Oncology bridges the worlds of basic science, clinical diagnosis and the treatment of cancer. Our basic investigative activities concentrate on immunology, genetics/genomics, pharmacology, DNA repair and oncogene action. Our clinical science covers each cancer type; has a strong focus in clinical trials of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and in correlative laboratory studies. Our work is supported by a portfolio of peer-reviewed grants, industrial agreements and research endowments. **Duties include:** + Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. + Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. + Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher. + Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. + Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. + Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed. + Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:** + At least one year of employment experience in a laboratory setting, solid written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated professionalism in working with colleagues both internal and external laboratory users in a diverse work environment. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):** + Bachelor's degree in related scientific field. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):** + General understanding of scientific principles.
