Life Skills Educator I
Overview Provides written and “Hands-on” age-appropriate parenting education and activities to a caseload of families. Provides court testimony and attends recommended training. Provides training in skill-based areas, such as budgeting, organizational skills, cooking, healthy environmental maintenance, with the ability to adjust the curriculum to accommodate for learning disabilities. Assesses need and progress through pre and post-tests. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one and one-half (1 ½) years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Database software, Internet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Ability to exercise good judgment in assessing situations and documenting or presenting the facts effectively and accurately. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to advise clients of agency services and community resources. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
