In this position...

The Lifecycle (Vehicle) Cost Manager will lead a team of Lifecycle cost supervisors and analysts to manage Material Cost over the lifecycle on multiple programs working hand-in-hand with the Vehicle Program Director(s), Chief Program Engineers, and their program leads.  The objective is to maintain competitive material cost throughout each vehicle's lifecycle to achieve and maintain segment EBIT targets.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience  10+ years’ experience in automotive product development 5+ years’ experience supervising/ leading teams

Even better, you may have...

Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field Experience managing and leading a large team. Experience analyzing competitive automotive designs. Previous costing, experience  A strong mix of engineering, program management and business acumen skills

What you'll do…

Process owner and execution leader for lifecycle cost process across multiple programs. Represent global cost processes integration with Ford's wider product development and cycle plan. Lead tradeoff decisions and financial analysis to ensure programs are set up to meet their EBIT targets. Support supplier selection and sourcing commitment and manage cost changes through the program until launch to ensure EBIT target is maintained at Job 1.  Lead supplier workshops and “Design to Target” initiatives to close any gaps leading into final pricing with suppliers. Utilize the suite of digital ecosystem tools managed by Global Total Cost to document efficient cost start points, physical content and sourcing changes, competitive benchmarks, Optimal Cost Estimates, etc. Create ad-hoc What-If Cost Studies to support strategic and tactical decision-making. Leverage in-cycle cost reduction ideas in CRID and gain agreement to implement where the business case makes the most sense.  Conversely, push ideas from Program Status back into in-cycle incorporation where earlier incorporation makes sense. Monitor competitive benchmarking globally and leverage observations and discoveries to challenge Ford's content or requirements.
