This position is temporary work during the summer season only, located at one of Boise Parks and Recreation's outdoor facilities. This position works days, evenings, weekends, and holidays during the summer. This position is designated as At-Will. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older. Essential Functions Maintains patron safety. Monitors patron behavior in and around the pool. Enforces pool rules. Assists patrons in need of rescue and performs necessary lifesaving activities. Provides first aid, CPR and calls emergency medical personnel if necessary. Performs customer service by interacting with patrons and communicating information regarding pool programs and pool safety. Performs custodial work as necessary including maintaining a safe pool and deck area. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications, including CPR, AED and First Aid. American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard accepted. Working knowledge of basic first aid and lifesaving techniques; customer service techniques. Ability to perform light custodial duties; enforce pool rules and regulations; make appropriate decisions in emergency situations; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training Two or more years' experience as a certified lifeguard.
