At the Alonzo Petteys Rehabilitation Center, the facility’s 10,000-gallon warm water therapy pool is looking for a lifeguard to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 3:30PM – 6:30PM daily. This position is as needed with no set schedule and no guarantee of hours.

This position monitors swimming pool activity and equipment to ensure water safety, minimize pool hazards, and provide life-saving techniques. This position also performs cleaning and minor maintenance on rehabilitation equipment and prepares the treatment area for patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs pool surveillance and enforces pool water safety guidelines to ensure safety of all pool patrons/visitors.
2. Cleans and maintains pool equipment and keeps pool area free of obstructions or unsafe materials. Maintains pool chemistry and temperature logs.
3. Cleans and straightens rehab treatment area to ensure readiness for patients. Maintains cleaning logs per department policy. Closes department at end of business hours following departmental security check list.
4. Participates in orientation of new lifeguards and pool safety training of rehab staff.
5. Works independently under regular supervision. Follows defined procedures. Makes decisions about inventory levels. Customers include patients, visitors, and other facility staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
