Lifeguard Manager
***Sign on bonus of $1,000.00 after 90 days of good standing*** SUMMARY Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with ASYMCA policies and procedures. Main Responsibilities + Responsible for the supervision of lifeguards on assigned shift. + Maintains equipment and facilities within the aquatics department. + Maintains active surveillance of the pool area per Red Cross or YMCA of USA certifications. + Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled. + Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency. + Reviews all emergency procedures and completes related reports as required by ASYMCA policies and procedures. + Understands and ensures safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area are being enforced. + Maintains accurate records as required by the ASYMCA and/or State Health Department Code. + Consistently surveys the pool area for hazardous conditions. + Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required. Takes appropriate action to remedy any hazards. + Remains alert with no lapses in consciousness. + Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service. + Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director. + Must be available to work Mornings or Evenings and Weekends + Work with Aquatic’s Director to schedule and implement Live Drills + Supports and is a team member of the ASYMCA Killeen. + Ensure ASYMCA Customer Service and Engagement is adhered to at all times. Mandatory Certifications FBI Fingerprint Screening State Criminal History Records Check Complete required ASYMCA (Redwoods) safety training American Red Cross First Aid/CPR and AED Certification Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA of the USA) Certified Pool Operator Emergency Oxygen Trained Must meet and maintain Lifeguard requirements including 300 yard swim Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, an employee is frequently required to run, swim, paddle and walk short distances; stand and sit for long periods; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear both in person from close and long distances and by phone or radio; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate lifesaving equipment.. The employee regularly lifts, pushes or pulls persons or equipment over 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades; depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends. Works on uneven and/or slippery surfaces and is periodically exposed to hazardous conditions/situation. This position works a varied work week as determined by the needs required to manage operations. Travel Travel time is not required for this position Education and Experience Must be eighteen (21) years of age or older. Minimum two (2) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in lifeguarding. Three years supervision experience required. Professional leadership skills required. Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm. Experience managing indoor and outdoor lifeguards Experience managing pool deck and aquatic pump rooms Ability to positively interact with the general public.
