Lifestyles Coordinator

Are you a creative type? A social butterfly? Do you enjoy working with seniors? The Lifestyles Coordinator is a very important, very hardworking, but very FUN person! Also called an Activities Coordinator or Activities Assistant, this is  someone who is a friend to our elderly residents, cares about their lives and interests and helps plan and facilitate a variety of wonderful daily activities and special events. We have both Independent and Assisted Living areas of our building, led by our Lifestyles Director. You will work with your director and team to bring joy, learning, exercise, events and memories to our beloved residents.
Here are the most important attributes that we are looking for:
-Be a TEAM player - we are in this together and appreciate contribution of ideas. Everyone has their own unique strengths and we are strongest when we combine them TOGETHER! Great communication is KEY.
-Organized
-Ability to work a 3 day week: The ideal candidate can cover  days Thursday through Saturday. Be prepared for flexibility now and then as we have different events we may need help covering. You may be asked to adjust your schedule  for evening activities, special events, covering someone on vacation, etc. Don't worry.....nothing too scary!
-Ability to LEAD activities and take initiative. That may mean calling BINGO, gathering folks to come hear a concert, leading ladies in a tea and chat....or so many other things like it. You don't have to be a loud person, just not too shy to stand in front of a group sometimes.
-A knack for hosting parties is a definite plus! You are never to old to PARTY and our residents know that. Garden Plaza is always celebrating special occasions and milestones. Decorating, cleaning up, serving a little food and drink all might be involved.
-Good on a computer: Not a whiz necessarily, but familiar with modern technology such as using an ipad or cell phone to pull up youtube, take photos, ability to use TV streaming services. We make a lot of flyers and notices for inside the building so a good eye for graphics is definitely appreciated. We use Microsoft Word for that.  We also keep track of a lot of things on Word Documents. Also, we have a special program that runs our "community channel" and you will need to learn how to use that. If you are tech challenged... this is not the position for you.
-Be clean, put together, professional and very respectful of our community and the people who live here.
-Love Seniors!! It goes without saying, of course. Once you start getting to know our residents, you will likely fall in love with each one though!
-With all that being said......an ability to think on your feet is needed. No matter how much we plan, things happen.....a musician gets sick, balloons are duds, a resident is having a rough day and wants to talk with you.....who knows! The great thing is that you will be working with a team that supports you.
