Lift Operations & SkyBridge Manager
Overview This position is responsible for overseeing lift operations as well as our SkyBridge – “Michigan’s second bridge” – spanning 1200’ across our summit. The purpose of this position is to consistently provide guests and staff an exceptional experience with an unwavering focus on safety, lift reliability, and friendly service. This full-time, year-round position will spend a lot of time outside engaging with staff and guests. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to): Accountable for the department goals while contributing to the overall Mountain Experience & Resort initiatives. Promote and exemplify L.E.A.D. core values. Contribute to creating and maintaining a culture of positivity, productivity, and professionalism. Actively lead, monitor, organize, and support daily operations of lift operations and SkyBridge. Ride lifts daily to assess quality and efficiency of service and identify opportunities to improve our operation. Develop Great People through talent attraction/retention, proper training, active listening, timely coaching, and positive recognition. Directly manager the establishment of goals, development plans, and the appropriate evaluation of performance for all direct reports. Foster a caring safety culture within the department to achieve the goal of zero work related injuries. Provide timely guidance to team members in support of safety, service, and guest recovery. Respond to various locations on property to assist the team during high volume or emergencies. Generate and analyze daily scanning reports and share insights with pertinent resort leaders. Troubleshoot scanning equipment and collaborate with IT, as needed, to resolve equipment issues. Think Long-Term by creating and implementing policies, procedures, and plans to proactively mitigate risk, improve safety, and provide unmatched quality of service to our internal and external guests. Deliver Excellence in Execution by engaging with staff in a friendly, welcoming, inclusive, and professional manner to ensure brand standards are met or exceeded. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including MIOSHA, the Michigan Ski Area Safety Act, NSAA Responsibility code, ANSI B77.1, and similar. Professionally address all guest complaints and team member personnel issues in a timely fashion by problem-solving and taking appropriate action to bring resolution. Ensure timely and thorough completion of administrative tasks including hiring, scheduling, training documentation, lift incident reports, daily lift logs. Maintain respective documentation as required. Prioritize and adapt in a constantly changing business and environmental setting. Assist other departments as requested. Supervisory Duties Winter: direct supervision of up to 6 supervisors; indirect supervision of up to 85 team members. Summer: direct supervision of up to 3 supervisors; indirect supervision of up to 25 team members. Qualifications Possess a high school diploma or equivalent Have previous supervisory experience working in the hospitality industry Proven leadership track record with at least 2-years’ experience as a supervisor or higher; ideally, leading >25 staff. Prior experience in lift operations or lift maintenance is preferred. Can ski/ride at an intermediate level or higher Are friendly, personable, and empathetic Have knowledge about Boyne Mountain Resort and the resort offerings Are passionate about winter sports, the outdoors and/or hospitality Have a desire to learn new skills and help others Have excellent written and verbal communication skills Are detail oriented, organized, and able to quickly prioritize tasks and adapt accordingly Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment Are able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with varying hours based on season
