A Level 1 Ski Lift Mechanic at Boreal Mountain is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and operation of ski lift equipment. Key duties include conducting routine inspections, performing minor repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role requires basic mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. Ideal candidates should be safety-conscious, have a strong work ethic, and be able to collaborate with team members. Previous experience in a mechanical or maintenance role is a plus, but training will be provided.

essential functions & Major responsibilities:Basic Mechanical Skills: Understanding of mechanical systems and components.
Hydraulic Systems: Understanding of hydraulic components and their maintenance.
Inspection Techniques: Ability to perform visual and functional inspections of lift equipment
Safety Procedures: Knowledge of safety standards and practices in ski lift operation
Troubleshooting: Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions
Preventative Maintenance: Skills in conducting routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure.
Specific Job Skills:
Basic electrical theory
Able to use a multi-meter
Basic troubleshooting philosophy
Understanding the differences between hydraulics and pneumatics
Basic nomenclature for fluid identification
Understanding types and identifying grades of fasteners
Able to identify different type of wire rope construction
Expanded knowledge of lift components and nomenclature
Basic understanding of how to navigate the ANSI B77 code book and lift service/maintenance manuals
Technical Skills:
Competent in the operation of stand-by and evacuation motor procedures for fixed grip and detachable chairlifts.
Competent in Brake torque testing
Perform all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections, tests, and maintenance procedures, per manufacture or governing bodies.
Demonstrate/perform all necessary inspections and tests for state and insurance inspectors
Competent in measuring and inspecting haul rope and counterweight ropes
Competent in measuring and inspecting roller chain and link chain on tension systems
Preform minor tower adjustment/line work, brake adjustments, and sheave rebuild/replacement.
Work with visual and magnetic particle NDT procedures under the supervision by a level 2 certified inspector
Preform minor wiring installations, battery installations, electrical component replacement, and repairs
Obtain oil samples for analysis and monitor gear boxes temperatures and oil pressures.
