Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for the installation of various types of equipment per manufacturer's specifications found in transit light and heavy rail vehicles.
ResponsibilitiesFollow a pre-established schedule for the installation of equipment on transit vehicles including those associated with propulsion, trucks, pneumatic supply and brake control, air conditioning, fiberglass panels, glass, flooring, doors as required to achieve manufacturer specifications.Use precision measuring devices in the course of the work.Measure and inspect completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.Record all findings accurately in provided Test Reports, for inclusion into Car History Books that follow each completed vehicle such as torque values, part and serial numbers.Perform modifications to rail vehicles as directed by engineering and supervisory staff.Read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals and work orders.Document work performed and parts and materials used; follow specified safety procedures.Use and maintain hand and power tools equipment of the trade.Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.Essential SkillsThorough understanding of assembly build practices and procedures.Good mathematical skills.Knowledge of mechanical torque, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Must own and maintain a basic hand tool set.Experience in precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pie tapes, etc.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in assembly, hand tools, mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, power tools, light industry, schematics, measuring devices, product inspection, production, and assembly line.Why Work Here?
