Light Tech III

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Automotive Tech III will be responsible with performing vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting gasoline and diesel-power equipment and shop facility. May travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION

 

Pay Range: $26.00 - $34.00

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Performs automotive advance skill level III, performs vehicles Preventive Maintenance, troubleshoots electrical, ignition, fuel injection system, charging and air conditioning system. Perform inspection and repairs of exhaust system, brake system; master cylinder, rotors, and brake-pads. Performs inspection for suspension components: alignment, and tires replacement. Repair and replace engines, cylinders, and transmissions for automotive gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. Perform Smog test and repairs in accordance with California BAR specifications. Perform troubleshooting and repairs for Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (EV) models.  Repairs and replace engines, cylinders, and transmissions on off-road gasoline-diesel powered equipment.  Troubleshoot, repair, and replace hydraulic, air system and complete installs of emergency lights and siren kits. Perform quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repair and replace tires, install / replace windshield wipers and light bulbs. Jump-start, park, pick up and deliver County vehicles as needed to any vendor or County facility. Perform on-the-road mobile equipment maintenance to any facility across Los Angeles County as necessary. Picking up and delivering vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and any vendors as required Road-testing vehicles on public streets and highways when required and to drive to any of the five shop locations. Ensure the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing of daily work duties. Clean, sweep, mop, take trash out of assigned work bays, and shop common areas. Abide by established safety standards to meet local safety policies and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Report to various regional locations as required. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License 10+ years automotive knowledge required Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed Proficiency with MS Office Suite Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process ASE A5 certified or be willing to obtain within three months of employment. Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission” (EVTCC) or willing to obtain if required. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilities. California Bar Smog License preferred, but not required. May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in one of five service maintenance facilities, may require occasional on-the-road maintenance repairs. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 PM, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
